I've been working at Curtain Call since mid 2015 and love every minute of it. I am currently studying to become a certified dance teacher through a certificate 4 in dance teaching and management.
I will be making short posts now and then to remind parents of things or give tips to help you with organizing your little ones.
Today's post is to remind you of the following:
Another reminder, we have noticed from time to time some classes have been starting a little later the last few weeks. This may be due to parents arriving late or needing to talk with myself or Taylah. We ask that parents use the time after classes to discuss anything with us as this will not take up class time. We hire the centre for a set group of hours which we have allocated into class and extra time. This means although we would like to, we are unable to extend classes when this happens.
Something we have mentioned before, CCDA has a mandatory uniform. Some students are wearing skirts to classes, items in the wrong colours or incorrect tights. We ask that parents purchase items from us or request images to help them purchase the correct uniform. Items not part of uniform such as skirts or coloured crossovers that can easily be removed should be removed before class.
I would also like to take this opportunity to notify parents that students taking part in the end of year performance are required to have purchased ballet shoes by the start of Term 4. Bare feet can be beneficial in dance however the fast pace at which children are currently learning routines makes it a liability. Children have been having trouble sticking to the floor and because of that, not correctly performing moves.
I'd like to give recognition to the children who have been practicing as of late. The classes have been running much better and we have been able to cover more ground so much so that we have finished one routine for each group and the kids are now moving on to their second routine. We hope this focus will continue well into Term 4 and look forward to watching week next week so children can show their parents how hard they've worked this term.
Thank you for reading and stay posted for future messages,
Most of you will have seen the email regarding the changes to how we will be taking payments starting Term 4.
In case anyone hasn't seen it yet or for future reference, please keep reading.
We will be sending students home this week and next week with an authorization form for storing your card details for future payment. If you already have a card on file we only need your cards last 4 digits, so please send us an email or text. We will need these details by 8th October.
Starting term 4 we will be sending invoices as usual for parents to pay up until 8th October. If payment has not been made by the due date, we will then manually take payment from the card on file the day after at 1pm. If we are unable to retrieve funds at that time there will be a fee of $5 added to the next payment.
The Studio Rules and Guidelines have been updated to reflect this change.
Last week notices were given to parents at the end of class.
For those of you who couldn't make it to class last week please look below for notices regarding end of year performance details and our new, additonal location in Term 4.
Classes won't be running tomorrow. Please check your emails for more information and contact us if you have any questions.
This is a reminder that class won't be running this week, Saturday 16th due to a problem with booking the room for this date earlier in the year. Like usual, you have not been charged for this lesson. We hope everyone has a lovely week!
We'd like to remind parents that students need either ballet shoes or convertible tights for class so as not to have a tripping hazard because of their feet being slippery. At this point in the year we would be more comfortable if all children had ballet shoes (for the performance and due to the weather) and convertible tights (for times when a student might forget their shoes) though it is up to you which one you purchase for your child.
If you don't mind cutting your childs footed tights you may do so to make them into convertibles, here is a video which easily explains how to do so. Just be sure to cut the part which would be under your child's foot. An extra tip if you are finding it hard to find the spot where the hole should be - you can have your child wear the tights and then mark the spot like in the video, take them off and then cut them.
We'd also like to remind parents about naming their children's belongings and providing them with a bag to keep their things together. We have "I love CCDA" bags available for $15 here.
